Paul Levett - CEO
Paul Levett is the Managing Director and founder of Levett Engineering, an Australian defense & aerospace company located in Elizabeth South, South Australia. Paul started out his career in 1978 as an apprentice Fitter & Turner with the Defense Science and Technology Organization (DSTO). Having completed his apprenticeship, he gained a position in the Mechanical Instrument Shop where he was responsible for the manufacture of precision metal components using lathes and milling machines for various defense projects. After four years service post trade and further studies in engineering he gained a promotion to Technical Officer where he was responsible for technical support on defense projects in Air Weapons Development Group at DSTO.
After ten years continuous service within the Defence Industry, Paul decided it was time to move on and fulfill his life ambition of setting up and running his own company. Levett Engineering was born from the defense sector origins in 1989. His company has since grown to become a highly respected and trusted partner with many of the high profile defense related Prime contractors in Australia. In 2002, Levett Engineering became a member of “Team Australia” to generate and investigate potential business opportunities in the US in the search of new customers.
In 2007, Paul’s company received its first contract for components to be exported to the US. Today the company has in total 142 individual line items for components with further contracts pending. Levett is an approved supplier for two major defense primes. Equally, opportunities are evolving in the commercial Defence and Aerospace industries as a result of the demonstrated capabilities of Levett Engineering to date.
In November 2009, Levett Engineering won the prestigious national “Emerging Exporter Category” at the Australian Export Awards which was one of the highlights in Paul’s life reflecting back from the company's beginning.
Paul Belshaw - Program Manager
Paul joined Levett Engineering in 2008. After completing a trade apprenticeship, Paul received an Associate Degree in Engineering and worked for GEC Alsthom Ruston Diesels Ltd for over 10 years. Paul made the brave decision by moving in to the automotive industry within the UK as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer supplying to all the major Automotive companies including Aston Martin, Land Rover, Audi, BMW and MINI. From this, Paul gained an understanding of manufacturing on a larger scale. After 9 years, Paul moved to Australia to gain work in the Defence and Aerospace sector by joining Levett Engineering to help develop the company from a traditional machine shop to being production ready for the F35 and other aerospace platforms.
Steve Bain - Senior Estimator
Steve is the Bid Manager and a Project Coordinator at Levett Engineering. Having completed his apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner at DSTO (Defence Science and Technology Organisation) in 1987, Steve decided to expand his horizons and took up the position as Fitter and Turner with British Aerospace Australia (now BAE Systems). Over the years Steve has gained experience in Production Engineering, Configuration Management, Project Management and Business Systems. After his fourteen-years with BAE Systems he decided it was time for a change of scenery and selected in an SME with a vision to the future, in advanced manufacturing technology. Steve joined Levett Engineering in 2002 and has helped develop and maintain operational systems in Levett Engineering’s expansion into the Aerospace Industry.
Bethany Levett - Supply Chain Coordinator
Bethany joined Levett Engineering in 2014 as the company's Supply Chain Coordinator. With a background in accounting, Bethany completed a Bachelor of Commerce in 2010 and has worked in the areas of Taxation and Corporate Recovery throughout Australia. After living and working in Darwin, Bethany made the decision to move back to Adelaide to join the Levett team to assist with the development of the company's supply chain.
